SamuraiSafe uses iCloud Drive, but doesn’t use folders that are visible in iCloud Drive using the macOS Finder (or the Files app on iOS). Instead, it uses a hidden private iCloud Drive container.

If you move your safe to an iCloud Drive folder visible in the macOS Finder, SamuraiSafe will work locally, but will not sync to iOS devices.

To move your safe into the correct iCloud Drive location, follow either of the following steps:

macOS

  1. Move your safe from iCloud Drive to the macOS file system (e.g. the Desktop).
  2. Open the safe in SamuraiSafe.
  3. Select Move To iCloud from the File menu.
  4. Your safe should now be visible from the Open iCloud menu.

iOS

  1. Select the safe using the Files app.
  2. Use the share menu to open the safe in SamuraiSafe. This will copy the safe into the private SamuraiSafe app sandbox.
  3. In the SamuraiSafe app, touch Edit and then drag the safe down to iCloud safes.
  4. After verifying that your safe opens in SamuraiSafe, you may wish to remove the copy in the public iCloud Drive folder.
