Password AutoFill (macOS 11.0 Big Sur or later) allows easy login using SamuraiSafe credentials to websites using Safari or other apps that support Password AutoFill. It is particularly convenient using TouchID on supported hardware.
Safari supports Password AutoFill. Firefox and Chrome do not yet support Password AutoFill.
- Select an open iCloud safe with the Use Safe for Password AutoFill action in the SamuraiSafe File menu.
- Enable SamuraiSafe in System Preferences / Extensions / Password AutoFill.
- Enable AutoFill web forms for Usernames and Passwords in Safari Preferences.
See Enabling and Using Password AutoFill for more detail.
The quicktype bar is populated with entries in your safe that contain a username, password and valid homepage. If you find the AutoFill quicktype bar isn’t offering you the correct username, ensure the homepage field is correct. Homepage may be set to either the bare website hostname eg. www.google.com, or a complete URL eg. https://www.google.com/login.
If further control is required over AutoFill, see AutoFill Settings which is available in the detail view for an entry where the safe is configured for AutoFill in Settings/Passwords. See Customising Password AutoFill.
